What are dental implants?

Dental implants are metal posts that are implanted into the jaw bone to serve as artificial roots for crown or denture attachment. Implants are used to replace teeth lost to trauma, decay or disease. The posts are made of medical grade titanium, which is used in all sorts of implants, including artificial joint replacement.

What are All-on-4® one day dental implants?

All-on-4® one day dental implants are a comfortable alternative to traditional full dentures, designed for patients replacing an entire row of teeth. The All-on-4® one day design uses four implants that are placed in the jaw and attached to a full-arch prosthesis on the same day, so patients do not have to worry about being “toothless” while the denture portion is being made. The four implants are strategically spaced to provide a balanced “load” on the jaw bone that eliminates the need to wait for weeks while bone tissue fuses with the implant posts, and it also reduces the need for bone grafts. That means patients undergo fewer procedures and can enjoy the result much more quickly than with traditional dentures or most single implant procedures.

Are All-on-4® one day dental implants better than dentures?

Most patients find implant-secured dentures and crowns to be far more comfortable than dentures, which require sticky adhesives and can easily slip and slide during wear. Slipping increases friction against the gum tissue, causing sore spots that can result in serious infections. All-on-4® one day dental implants are firmly attached to implant posts, so they stay put and don’t cause sore spots from increased friction. They also do not require the use of adhesives, and they’re designed to be much more comfortable than traditional dentures that simply rest on the gum surface. Plus, because they can be placed in a single day, they provide greater patient satisfaction by enabling patients to continue to eat and speak normally, without loss of function.
